What can you do in the OU Portal?

1. Login to Blackboard

2. Login to use the Library Databases

3. View class schedules

4. View their grades

5. View unofficial transcripts

To connect to the Ottawa University Student Portal, go to http://myottawa.ottawa.edu

Would you like to chat with a Reference Librarian? Do you have question about books, periodicals or other materials and you want to connect to a librarian.

1. Login to the OU Portal
2. Gp to the Myers Library Online website
3. Scroll all the way down to "Virtual Librarian" and click on the link
4. You will see a website explaining Virtual Librarian
5. Click on the "Ask Us" box at the far end of the website
6. If our librarians are off like you will get a message saying that the Chat is offline
7. You can search the Knowledge base for answers to your question or you can leave us a message and we will email you back
8. If the librarian is online then you can put your name in the box or check the "chat anonymously" Box
9. And click "Chat!"

Please note that our librarians are unavailable over weekends and available between 10-12 and 1-4, Monday-Friday CST.

If you search the databases or the catalog and find an journal abstract or book, and would like to order it from the library please be aware of the following issues:

1. Book items cannot be ordered on ILL unless you are a student at Ottawa University's Main or Kansas City sites.

(These limitations exist because of the short length of time that books on ILL are checked out and return dates which are usually firm).

2. No textbook titles can be ordered via ILL

3. Journal ordering on ILL is available to all students and faculty at all Ottawa University's sites

4. Please be aware that immediate ILL is never possible.

5. If you plan to order an ILL, please provide the interlibrary loan librarian with an window of time, presumably 7-10 days to order an article for you

6.  You may place an order for journal articles online by using either the Kansas Library Catalog or the OCLC First Search Databases to do so
